Latin American Studies 研究生 Certificate

The Latin American Studies 研究生 Certificate — open to all master’s and doctoral students — gives students a broad understanding of the cultural, institutional and structural realities of Latin America in depth, promoting greater understanding of Latin America within the context of regional and global change.

The certificate program only accepts students who have been admitted to an advanced degree program at newbb电子平台. The Latin American Studies Certificate Director determines acceptance to the program.

Prospective applicants must prepare an application for submission to the Latin American Studies Certificate Director at Yamada International House or via email at 国际.studies@俄亥俄州.edu to obtain the signature of the Certificate Director. The application must include:

• Completed Application for Update of 研究生 Academic Program. This form is available on the 研究生 College website. See Add Additional Certificate.
• 本科 and/or 研究生 Transcript
• 简历/简历: This should list information about your academic background, professional and/or internship experience, and academic and/or professional accomplishments (such as conference presentations, 出版物, 实习, 志愿者工作, 奖, 荣誉, 奖, 等.).
• Statement of Purpose: This two-page statement should discuss your educational and professional goals and how the Latin American Studies Certificate will help you meet those goals. Applicants should be specific in discussing aspects of their background that have led them to the program and how the program can support their future professional and/or academic goals.
• The completed application, including the signature of the Latin American Studies Certificate Director, should then be submitted to the 研究生 College at newbb电子平台.

International 学生s

This certificate program alone does not permit full-time enrollment in residence at newbb电子平台, and an I-20 cannot be issued based on admission to this certificate. 然而, this certificate can be completed during any newbb电子平台 graduate program and an I-20 may be issued based on admission to that degree program.

Certificate Requirements

Full Certificate Requirements and Courses in the Official Academic Catalog

学生s must complete a minimum of 20 credit hours and take at least one course (3-4 credit hours) toward the certificate each semester.

This certificate requires a combination of interdisciplinary courses with core Latin America content (at least 12 credit hours) and language courses (8 credit hours or evidence of proficiency).
